The Fall of the Standard-Bearers

Excellent essay by Diane Ravitch at SchoolandCollege.com about the founding of the College Board and the development of the SAT. Particularly interesting in light of the fact that the SAT, formerly the Scholastic Aptitude Test, is now the Scholastic Achievement Test and so nearly comes full circle from the original purpose of the College Board. I say nearly because, as we know, the academic standards are much more subjective now than they were 100 years ago. Do check this out if you have any interest in standards-based education.
